Simple Mint Julep

¼ cup water
1 teaspoon white sugar
5 fresh mint leaves or to taste
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger bourbon or more to taste
4 ice cubes or as desired
Drinks Step 1 Place a tall glass in the freezer until frosted. Step 2 Mix water and sugar together in the frosted glass until sugar is dissolved. Twist mint leaves to release the scent and flavor from each leaf; add to glass. Fill glass 1/4-full with bourbon; add ice. Garnish glass with a mint leaf.
