Nonna's Sweet Pasta Sauce for Two

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

⅓ red onion

chopped

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1 ½ cups water

1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste

3 tablespoons white sugar

1 slice bacon

cooked and crumbled

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 pinch red pepper flakes

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a small pot over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until onion is soft about 5 minutes. Stir in water tomato paste sugar bacon salt basil and red pepper flakes. Simmer until flavors combine about 30 minutes.
