Grandma's Heavenly Onions

Ingredients

1 tablespoon butter

4 large sweet onions

sliced

½ pound Swiss cheese

shredded

10 slices Italian bread

¼ cup butter

softened

½ cup milk

1 (10.75 ounce) cancondensed cream of mushroom soup

3 teaspoons soy sauce

salt and pepper to taste

Side Dish

Directions

Step 1

In a large skillet over medium heat melt butter and saute onions until translucent. Transfer onions to a 9x12 inch casserole dish and sprinkle cheese over onions. Spread butter on both sides of the bread then lay the bread over the cheese.

Step 2

In a medium bowl combine milk soup soy sauce salt and pepper. Mix well and pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate over night.

Step 3

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Step 4

Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes.
