This recipe is similar to the sauce they serve on hot dogs in New York on the street. According to legend, it first showed up at Coney Island, and then grew in popularity until all of the hot dog vendors in the city served it.

Coney Sauce

Ingredients

½ pound ground beef

¼ cup water

¼ cup chopped onion

1 clove garlic

minced

1 cup tomato sauce

½ teaspoon chili powder

½ teaspoon monosodium glutamate (MSG)

½ teaspoon salt

Step 1

In a medium skillet over medium high heat saute the ground beef for 10 to 15 minutes or until well browned. Break up with a fork until fine. Add the water onion garlic tomato sauce chili powder monosodium glutamate and salt. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes or until heated thoroughly.
